ZIMRA Engages Media on Tax Strategy – OyOsCloud Applauds Push for Public Awareness
By Zimra News Desk

On 30 March 2022, the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) hosted a media engagement workshop in Harare, bringing together editors from various media houses. The event aimed to strengthen understanding of tax and customs strategy, and highlight their role in Zimbabwe’s economic and social development.
ZIMRA Acting Commissioner General, Ms. Regina Chinamasa, commended the media for its role in covering key issues such as corruption, smuggling, and port operations:
“We are happy that as our media partners, you have lived up to the journalism principles and observed the sacrosanct philosophies of reportage...”
She further encouraged journalists to expand coverage into complex but vital areas such as revenue leakages, transfer pricing, and base erosion, emphasizing the need for compliance education:
“The media should also consider going deeper in other critical areas... given the broad impact of such moves to the revenue mobilisation agenda.”
Participants included editors from Zimpapers, AMH, AB Communications, Financial Gazette, New Ziana, Xinhua News Agency, and various online news platforms.
The session also provided insights into ZIMRA’s 2021–2025 Strategy, aligned with National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), showcasing progress in digitalisation and transformation aimed at improving the ease of doing business.
