ZIMRA SIGNS MoU WITH HIT

In a strategic move to strengthen Zimbabwe’s domestic resource mobilisation, the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Harare Institute of Technology (HIT). The partnership focuses on leveraging technology, research, and capacity building to support economic development.

The agreement sets out a collaborative framework for both institutions to:

  • Develop local software solutions for tax administration

  • Share strategies for revenue mobilisation and tax compliance

  • Implement special projects across sectors

  • Deliver technical training and resource-sharing between staff

The initiative also involves forming a Joint Technical Committee to coordinate implementation, foster innovation, and oversee the progress of all outlined programmes.

ZIMRA Acting Commissioner General Mr. Rameck Masaire commended the partnership:

“I am very cognisant about the process that ZIMRA and HIT went through so as to balance the interest of both parties and bear transformative ideas whose positive impact will be felt across the economy and beyond.”

HIT Vice Chancellor Dr. Eng. Q.C. Kanhukamwe echoed the sentiment, linking the collaboration to national goals:

“We hope that through this partnership we can achieve Vision 2030... Our thrust as HIT is encapsulated in our mandate: the development, incubation, transfer, and commercialization of technology for rapid national industrialisation.”

At OyOsCloud, we applaud this partnership between tax and tech. As a cloud-based platform already offering local digital solutions for ZIMRA Fiscalization at just $20/month, we see this MoU as a welcome reinforcement of the digital transformation agenda. We believe in the power of local innovation to simplify compliance and increase taxpayer participation.

Through tools like our WhatsApp-based support (0771 111 333) and seamless online registration, OyOsCloud is already helping businesses adapt to a smarter tax ecosystem—one that aligns perfectly with the spirit of the ZIMRA-HIT agreement.

As Zimbabwe heads toward Vision 2030, partnerships like these ensure the future of tax compliance and revenue collection is both home-grown and high-tech—and OyOsCloud is proud to be part of that future.
