Ms Regina Chinamasa appointed ZIMRA Acting Commissioner General

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) officially announced the appointment of Ms. Regina Chinamasa as Acting Commissioner General, effective February 1, 2022, following the retirement of Mr. Rameck Masaire.

The announcement was made by ZIMRA Vice Chairperson, Mrs. Josephine Matambo, who noted Ms. Chinamasa’s exceptional contributions to modernizing ZIMRA's systems and enhancing compliance:

“Currently Ms Chinamasa is the Commissioner for Revenue Assurance. She is credited for introducing various processes that are plugging revenue leakages through modern investigative and compliance systems…”

A seasoned tax professional, Ms. Chinamasa began her career in 1994 as a Tax Assessor in the former Department of Taxes. She later joined ZIMRA’s Investigation Division in 2001 and transitioned to Customs and Excise in 2011, where she led initiatives in compliance and risk management. She played a key role in introducing Authorized Economic Operators (AEOs) and post-clearance audits, enhancing trade facilitation across borders.

Her leadership extended to the Domestic Taxes Division from 2014, where she served in several senior roles, including Acting Commissioner of Domestic Taxes between 2016 and 2018.

With over 28 years of experience in tax enforcement and revenue mobilisation, Ms. Chinamasa's appointment signals continuity in ZIMRA’s push for efficiency, integrity, and digital transformation.
