ZIMRA celebrates mother’s day in style

In a heartwarming and unprecedented celebration, the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) held its first-ever large-scale Mother’s Day event on 7 May 2021 at the Meikles Hotel, themed “As We Are.” The event brought together over 500 women, both in-person and online, in a powerful show of unity, empowerment, and appreciation.

It was a vibrant gathering filled with gifts, tributes, and emotional moments—honouring single mothers, widows, and soon-to-retire women within the Authority.

“A mother’s influence can go beyond generations,”
said Mrs. Nellie Mupanduki, Head of Technical Services – Taxpayer Services and Debt Management.
She quoted Proverbs 31:26: “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.”

ZIMRA has long championed women empowerment, evident in the leadership roles held by its female professionals.

“An empowered woman is a powerful woman,”
said Mrs. Anna Sithole, Acting Head of Audits in Mutare.
“ZIMRA women are empowered, therefore they are powerful.”

Commissioner for Revenue Assurance, Mrs. Regina Chinamasa, also addressed the gathering:

“Working women face various challenges regarding work‐family balance due to societal, cultural, family, and gender norms... supportive husbands and in-laws make life easier for working women.”

The celebration highlighted the role of mothers not just at home, but in the workplace and national development. From leading departments to mentoring the next generation, ZIMRA women are living proof that strength, compassion, and leadership go hand in hand.
