ZIMRA Commissioner General Scoops Two Awards

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) won two prestigious accolades at the Institute of Directors Zimbabwe (IODZ) Awards, held on 6 July 2023 in Harare. Commissioner General Ms. Regina Chinamasa was named:

Director of the Year 2022 (State-Owned Enterprise & Parastatal Category)

Women Director of the Year (Women Director Category)

These awards recognised her exceptional leadership in driving ZIMRA’s performance, which included surpassing the 2022 Annual Revenue Target by 24.14%. Under her stewardship, nominal and real revenue growth reached 324.59% and 49.46% respectively.

“We are here to serve,” remains the Authority’s guiding principle, and this win reflects its commitment to that mandate.

Digital Innovation at the Heart of ZIMRA’s Growth

ZIMRA has implemented key digital systems to enhance taxpayer convenience and reduce compliance costs, including:

ASYCUDA, TARMS, e-Taxes, Single Window, and Self-Service Kiosks

Advanced tech projects like high-speed scanners, drones, surveillance centers, and FADMS

Launch of the ZIMRA Contact Centre, which improved turnaround times and lifted client satisfaction to 67%

ZIMRA’s growing role as a regional and international information hub is also strengthened by its participation in the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes.

Promoting Inclusion: Women in Taxation & Gender Equality

Ms. Chinamasa launched the Women in Taxation Forum in March 2022 to empower women in tax policy and administration. ZIMRA is also part of the UNDP Gender Seal Programme, reflecting its dedication to gender equality in leadership and policy.
