Zimbabwe Electronic Single Window Transforming Cross-Border Trade
By Zimra News Desk

The Zimbabwe Electronic Single Window (ZESW) is rapidly transforming cross-border trade by digitizing clearance procedures, eliminating paperwork, and aligning Zimbabwe's customs operations with global best practices. In the first quarter of 2024, ZESW successfully processed over 1,000 transactions at Forbes Border Post and Robert Gabriel Mugabe (RGM) International Airport, signaling strong adoption by the trading community.
“Clients will only need to submit documents once to fulfill regulatory requirements,” said Mr. Adrian Swarres, ZIMRA’s ZESW Project Manager. “This automated system allows clients to make submissions and payments from the comfort of their homes.”
These milestones reflect Zimbabwe’s ongoing commitment to improving the ease of doing business—a move directly aligned with the digital-first approach championed by platforms like OyOsCloud, which provides:

Voices from the Ground Support ZESW’s Impact
“The implementation of this system will reduce turnaround time for our trucks,” said Anoziva Keche, a Beitbridge-based transporter.
“This will ease the pain for grieving families. Less time at the border will be a huge relief,” said Ms. Vivian Nenhunzi, of Kings and Queens Funeral Parlour.
With Port Health modules already operational at key border posts and expansion underway for additional modules under the Ministry of Industry and National Biotechnology Authority, Zimbabwe is on track to integrate more departments into a unified digital clearance ecosystem.
