Finance Minister commissions 20 Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles for ZIMRA
By Zimra News Desk

On May 7, 2021, Finance Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube officially commissioned 20 Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles for the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) during a ceremony held in Harare. The new fleet is expected to enhance ZIMRA’s field operations—especially at rugged and high-risk border entry points where smuggling persists.
“I believe the vehicles that I am commissioning will assist the Authority in operations as the economy transitions towards sustained economic growth and towards achievement of Vision 2030 goals,”
said Professor Ncube.
He also praised ZIMRA’s commitment to modernising revenue collection and reducing leakages, noting key policy initiatives such as:
-
Mandatory fiscalisation of VAT-registered operators
-
Electronic Cargo Tracking Systems to fight transit fraud
-
Automation of ZIMRA processes to limit unnecessary face-to-face interactions and improve transparency
At the same event, ZIMRA Acting Commissioner General Mr. Rameck Masaire expressed appreciation for the Ministry’s continued support:
“Such support will allow the Authority to generate the much-needed revenue.”
The newly acquired vehicles will empower ZIMRA to respond faster and more efficiently in areas with challenging terrain, contributing to more robust enforcement and national revenue protection.
