ZIMRA partners Zimtrade Annual Exporters Conference

The 8th edition of the ZimTrade Annual Exporters Conference was held in Bulawayo from 17–18 October 2019, under the theme "Rethink, Reform, Export." For the first time since its inception in 2012, the event took place outside Harare, attracting over 500 local and international delegates — including policymakers, industry leaders, exporters, buyers, and public-private stakeholders.

Guest of Honour, President E.D Mnangagwa, emphasized the need for public-private sector synergies to foster an enabling export environment:

“This conference creates an opportunity to exchange ideas and stimulate productivity through an export-driven strategy. Its theme challenges us to introspect and increase foreign currency generation,” said the President.

He also reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s commitment to economic revitalization under the “Zimbabwe is open for business” mantra.

ZIMRA Calls for Collective Tax Compliance to Support Exports

Speaking during a session on "Reforming the Policy Environment for Export Growth", ZIMRA Commissioner General Ms. Faith Mazani reiterated the Authority’s readiness to support policy reforms that promote exports:

“ZIMRA stands firm in spearheading innovation and coordination with stakeholders in the export sector. I implore you to work with us in increasing tax and duty compliance. We must carry this burden together.”

She also cautioned against the impact of corruption on the economy, calling for unified efforts in eliminating it.
