Importing drones into Zimbabwe requires compliance with regulations under the Civil Aviation Act (CAP 13:16) and clearance through ZIMRA. Whether imported individually or commercially, drones must be registered with the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) using details such as the make, model, and serial number.

The Civil Aviation Act classifies drones under “aircraft” and mandates that no aircraft may arrive, depart, or overfly Zimbabwe without CAAZ permission. Failure to comply may result in fines or imprisonment under Section 42 of the Act.

Import Options

• Commercial Imports: Cleared through a registered clearing agent using Bill of Entry Form 21. If the drone value is under US$1,000, Form 49 may be used.

• Private Imports: Can be cleared at counters without a clearing agent. Parcels through post offices are cleared upon presentation of a CAAZ clearance letter.

• Consignment note or freight document (if applicable)

• BAZ/POTRAZ licenses (for broadcasting-enabled drones)
