TaRMS Project gains momentum
By Zimra News Desk

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) is set to transform tax administration with the rollout of the Tax and Revenue Management System (TaRMS), scheduled for commissioning in October 2023.
Developed as part of ZIMRA’s Business Process Reengineering (BPR) programme, TaRMS introduces a streamlined, digital-first approach to tax services. The system is designed to:
Simplify tax processes for individuals and businesses
Enable self-service (e.g., registration, filing, payments, and refunds)
Provide real-time data analytics for better decision-making
Enhance compliance while reducing the cost of collection
Integrate with key platforms such as ASYCUDA, SAP-FI, Registrar of Companies, and banks
“A simplified tax system that is effective and efficient increases compliance levels among taxpayers while reducing the cost of collection,” ZIMRA said in a statement.
Why TaRMS Matters
Aligns with National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) goals of enabling a digital economy and widening the tax base
Powers ZIMRA’s Five-Year Strategic Plan for maximizing revenue and boosting voluntary compliance
Reduces tax fraud and improves taxpayer engagement through data-driven operations
ZIMRA is currently cleansing taxpayer data to ensure system integrity ahead of launch.
