ZIMRA Brings Joy to Bumhudzo Old People’s home

In a heartwarming act of community upliftment, the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) extended a helping hand to the elderly at Bumhudzo Old People’s Home in Chitungwiza, donating winter clothes, shoes, and warm wear to help residents get through the cold season.

The initiative was part of the ZIMRA Charity Trust’s seasonal campaign, which encouraged staff to declutter their wardrobes in November and December last year for a noble cause. The response was overwhelming as ZIMRA employees rallied together, gathering essential items that found a new home at Bumhudzo.

The donation brought joy and energy to the home’s residents, who responded with song and dance. Among them was sekuru Ticha, a spirited 107-year-old who celebrated the moment with heartfelt appreciation for ZIMRA’s generosity.

Major Marere, Director of Special Services at Bumhudzo, expressed deep gratitude, noting the home’s continued reliance on the goodwill of donors:

“We depend on the kindness of well-wishers to provide critical care for our elderly residents.”

Run by the Salvation Army, Bumhudzo is not only a safe haven but a symbol of resilience. ZIMRA was especially impressed by the home’s horticulture project, powered by a greenhouse donated by ZIMRA.
